Mother Nature has treated us to some warm days this winter, but we’ve still had our fair share of snow, ice and cold. Enough! To satiate our craving for spring, we searched a few of our favorite Baltimore spots for bright items guaranteed to get you reaching for the seed catalogue. Even if you don’t garden, these gems will put you in a springtime mood.

Check out My Flower Box in Federal Hill, where we came upon this great find:

Potting Shed Creations — These convenient gift sets come with a selection of bulbs, plants and herbs ready to plant in a galvanized tub. Complete with instructions and everything you need to start your own seedlings, Potting Shed Creations are great for indoor and outdoor use. Varieties include mint, basil, daffodils and tulips. We especially love these because they come in a variety of sizes. Tiny tins are $2; prices range up to $30.

(Coming soon: My Flower Box will be stocking pretty canvas gardening gloves in floral prints, stripes and polka dots. Gloves start at $12.)

Next, hit Red Tree, where the staff couldn’t be more welcoming and sweet.

Kohli Marsh creates gorgeous flower pins out of 1940s table linens. Great for hair or clothing, the pins come in candy colors and have pearl centers. At $34 a pop, you can be decked out in garden glory!

Red Tree also stocks charming, yellow-painted metal jewelry trees with a bird on top. $14.

(Coming soon: Red Tree will be featuring garden stakes that bear quotes such as “Bugs need not apply,” “Vegetarian in Training” and “Flower Power and Pray for Rain.” $10.50 a pack.)

Open from March until just after Christmas, the Carriage House behind Schneider’s Hardware store offers a bounty of treats.

Local artist Steve Baker creates stained-glass and terra-cotta bird feeders in bright colors that you will have to have. $50.

Hand-painted galvanized tubs in all sizes brighten up any yard or garden. $19 to $30.

Blown glass hummingbird feeders will attract the prettiest of visitors. You’ll want to hang one outside the moment you get home. $19.95.

If you can’t wait for the real thing to return, pick up a cloisonné hummingbird ornament. $15.95.
